From Tam o Shanter's Big Night Oot, Scene 1

Tam o Shanter's Big Night Oot is a collection of six plays. Conceived and written by school students and teachers in collaboration with Itchy Coo, this book breathes new life into three ballads, a medieval poem and two of the most famous works in Scottish literature:

- Rab C. Hood, or Weans in Wellies - Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde
- Sir Patrick Spens - The Twa Corbies
- Damiano, the Abbot o Tungland - Tam o Shanter's Big Night Oot

Written in lively modern Scots, the collection is a rammy that sees an Italian monk lowp aff the battlements of Stirling Castle, Scots sailors go on the randan in downtown Oslo, the advent of royal tournament called Blooter-the-Can and Elvis Presley playing live for a dance of hackit witches. A much-needed teaching resource, Tam o Shanter's Big Night Oot is also fast, furious and full of entertainment.

Itchy Coo recommends this book for S1 to S4/ages 11 to 15.
5 to 14 Curriculum: Drama, Reading, KAL.
